Val d´Anniviers is an unspoilt valley located in the southern Swiss canton of Valais. At the head of the valley are several 4000 metre peaks including the Matterhorn (4476m), Dent Blanche (4357m), Zinalrothorn (4221m) and the Weisshorn (4505m), the fourth highest mountain in Europe.There are 6 villages as well as numerous small traditional Swiss hamlets linked by the Post Bus service and waymarked paths:
GRIMENTZ: combines its historic traffic free village with modern facilities to meet all your holiday needs and is famous as an access point for those walking or skiing the Haute Route between Chamonix and Zermatt.
St LUC: picturesque village located on a sunny southwest facing alp famous for it's observatory, funicular railway and views of the Matterhorn.
ZINAL: the most southerly village set in a dramatic steep sided valley is the starting point for climbing and hiking expeditions.
CHANDOLIN: ancient village which is the highest inhabited settlement in Switzerland at 2000m, famous as the home of Olympic sailor, photographer & explorer Ella Maillart.
VERCORIN: picturesque village with magnificent views across the Rhone Valley with a direct cable car link from Sierre.
All the villages are linked by Post Bus and good roads.
VISSOIE: is the administrative centre of the valley.
